It seems there is a bug with Feisty and tha lack of playability for DVD's which affects also the ability to RIP them. For ripping I used DVD Rip, to install it (have your repositories enabled), do code: sudo apt-get install dvdrip But it wouldn work, just as I couldnt play movies either. When I opened the movie player it said something like: "The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?" I followed the step by step instructions like this one, code: sudo apt-get install libdvdnav4 libdvdplay0 libdvdread3 libdvdcss2 sudo apt-get remove --purge totem totem-gstreamer sudo apt-get install totem-xine But I would still get the same error message. It told me that libdvdcss2 didnt have a target to install, so I did this in order to get around, code: sudo sh /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh It seems that you cant use libdvdcss2 unless you install it this way.

Wow thanks! I have been working on this problem for days. I also had the same problem with OpenSUSE 10.2.

Living Ubuntu

I discovered Ubuntu in its second release thanks to a PC Magazine Ranking. Haven't stop using GNU/Linux since. This place is where I put all the stuff that I stumble upon and fix later. Hope you find it useful.
